- Hi, I’m Ray. I write about life, change, grief, music, and staying spiritually awake without relying on religious labels. In 2025, my husband James and I moved from West Sacramento to Aberdeen, Washington, where we’re renovating a mid‑century home surrounded by trees and rain. Our 15‑year‑old pitbull mix, Lucy, has fully embraced the move. I’m grateful to still be working remotely while we settle in. The last few years brought deep loss as we said goodbye to our dogs Willow and Norbu. Grief has reshaped how I see the world, and much of my writing explores how we carry love forward. I also turned 65 recently, which feels surreal. Not knowing how else to mark the milestone, I recorded a one‑hour virtual concert. Spiritually, I’m in a season of re‑imagining. After 13 years in a loving church community, I’m exploring what spiritual awareness looks like without institutions—something quieter and more human. Music remains a constant, and I recently released my first solo album, Forever Fanilow, a tribute to Barry Manilow. I started this blog to share what I’m learning, unlearning, and noticing.
